8 Tips for Planning a Winter Wedding
5th January 2018
Now winter is truly upon us, we've been discussing in the shop just how much we love a winter wedding!
Often overlooked, with most newly engaged couples imagining themselves exchanging nuptials in the spring or summer months, we think there's something about a winter wedding that is romantic, magical and elegant all rolled into one.
Planning your own winter wedding? Check out our top tips below.
Don't forget the accessories
Accessories really come into their own for winter weddings - consider a stylish stole, cape, veil or cardie. Don't fancy any of those? We have loads of gorgeous long sleeve wedding dresses in stock which are super chic!
Tights under your dress
If your dress is floor length then there's absolutely no reason why you can't wear a pair of thick tights under your dress. No one will know and you'll thank us later! Don't forget about your bridesmaids too.
Consider just 1 venue
Lots of couples opt for a venue for the ceremony and another for the reception itself, but wintery driving conditions can make getting about more difficult so you might like to consider choosing just 1 venue for both. Lots of wedding venues nowadays have separate areas for ceremonies and receptions, giving you the illusion of a venue change without you and your guests having to travel.
Choose a winter colour palette
We just LOVE a winter colour palette! Think burgundies, navies, golds, dark greens, dusty pinks and greys. Allow your colour palette to dictate flowers, favours, room decorations and more.
Keep your guests warm
Serving a hot drink at your reception will go down well with your guests if they've had to travel or had any periods of standing outside for photos - how about mulled wine if you're planning a Christmas wedding?
Failing that hot cider, luxury hot chocolate and hot cocktails all go down well in our experience!
Don't forget the brollies!
You might be imagining a serene snow-covered landscape as the backdrop for your winter wedding, but don't forget about the rain! Make sure there's plenty available for both you and your partner and your wedding party, especially if you want plenty of outdoor photos!
Have spare shoes
Treating yourself to a pair of Louboutins or Jimmy Choos for the big day? Well take our advice and make sure you have an extra pair on hand, should you need to navigate mud, gravel or puddles when traveling to and from your venue or during the photos. You don't want to end up ruining a pair of shoes you've been dreaming about for months!
Buy some handwarmers
Blue hands in wedding photos are not a good look, so treat yourself and your partner to some hand warmers ahead of the big day. You can buy them in most shops - or online - in winter, and they fit in pockets, so they needn't make an appearance in your photos!
